Microsoft PowerPoint has Added a New Video Feature

For quite some time, PowerPoint has allowed users to incorporate videos into their presentations. However, the web application has not offered the same range of features as the desktop version. In an effort to address this issue, Microsoft has introduced a new update.

According to a recent blog post by Microsoft, PowerPoint for the web has added a new feature that allows users to directly upload videos to use in their presentations. Previously, the web application only allowed for the embedding of videos from external platforms such as YouTube.

With the new update, users can easily upload a video file by selecting "Video from device" from the Video dropdown menu within the Insert tab on the ribbon toolbar. This addition comes shortly after PowerPoint for the web received automatic formatting for lists, showcasing Microsoft's commitment to enhancing the user experience for its web-based office suite.

Although there is still a file size limit of 256 MB for videos in PowerPoint, this should suffice for most presentation needs. If you require a 4K video or a longer video for one of your slides, it may be more appropriate to upload an unlisted YouTube video. While Microsoft suggests using .MP4 videos, PowerPoint on the web can also detect other file types such as MOV, WMV, AVI, M4V, MKV, ASF, and TS.

According to Microsoft, the latest feature is currently being progressively released. Therefore, if it's not visible on your browser, it will likely become available shortly.
